Community Youth Development Training
Community Youth Development (CYD) is a national movement that seeks to involve youth in meaningful and important roles within their communities, to partner youth with adults in addressing community issues, and to tap into the creative and energetic potential of youth. Key components of CYD include: action focus; partnership; people as resources; learning system; and positive change/transformation.
The Western States Youth Services Network (WSYSN) has been actively involved with the National Network in developing and disseminating CYD since 1994. We are now able to offer this training to members and others throughout federal Region IX (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and the outer Pacific).
The training offered can be an introductory look at CYD or a two day series that would explain CYD, how it fits with what you are doing, ways in which you can decide to do something differently, and how to access resources in your community to help. Participants will explore their attitudes toward youth and their roles in the agency, service delivery, and the community.
Who should be involved includes a cross-section of staff from the entire agency including young people who are involved currently either as volunteers, advisors, or clients.
Cost is $200 for WSYSN member agencies and $300 for non-members plus trainer expenses.
