Cultural Competency and Diversity Training

An introductory training for organizations to identify their needs in this area and begin to focus on change. At least one day in length, this training walks agency staff through the various stages toward becoming a culturally competent organization. Staff from all levels and programs of an organization should participate including key decision makers. Volunteers (young people or adults) and Board members also add depth to this training.

Contents of the training include:

1) A brief introduction to Cultural Competency/Diversity Training and ways to experience it.

2) Work on personal and agency attitudes as a first step towards cultural competency.

3) Development of agency policies to support the commitment to cultural competency.

4) Establishment of an agency structure which enhances and encourages diversity.

5) How to serve a diverse population of youth and families in an inclusive atmosphere.

6) A listing of Cultural Competency and Diversity resources.

Cost is $200 for WSYSN member agencies and $300 for non-members plus trainer expenses.
