Tenets of CYD


  1. CYD is a movement that fosters conditions in which youth are valued and respected as partners in the development of healthy communities.

  2. CYD is the intentional development of communities in which people contribute their resources for the transformation of individuals and systems resulting in environments which are dynamic, responsible, and nurturing.

  3. CYD is a learning community dedicated to action that fosters youth as resources and partners.

  4. CYD is a dynamic process, whereby a community of diverse individuals challenge its adults and young people to adopt and act on the belief that young people are full and equal partners; and is engaged in an organized effort to actualize that belief at all levels within the community.

  5. CYD is a movement honoring the value, diversity and spirit of all people through the development of youth and their communities to build a present and future without injustice

  7. Community Development is action which creates an environment where people contribute/work together to maximize participation for individual and community growth.
